An "Everyday APA" is one where our members interact in association with other members and the work of the Association every signle business day. We can build upon the advances we have made in communication, advocacy, and inclusion to create an even greater connection to the Association. It will take new iniitatives and agile positioning of current Association activities to make "APA an everyday asset to our members!" That is Eric's goal.
Our current communication tools are strong. Our scientific journals, our awarding winning podcast Speaking of Psychology, the Monitor, and the "Six Things" email newsletter are all word class communication tools. Partnerships like the one with Sesame Street are an example of how we can get psycholgoy "in the water". Douibling down on these succcesses, expanding their reach and measurng their impact, will support our population health goals. Learning from these to imagine our "next level" innovations in communication will be important.
Our advocacy efforts have been more diverse, comprehensive, and inclusive than ever before. We have also been increasingly effective in many arenas. Advocating for payment models, mental health parity, gun safety, and other important issues have brought success. Framing our federal and state advocacy efforts within a population health framework is a winning strategy. It is bipartisan, is designed to save healthcare dollars, and helps more people with great program visability for politicians consittuents.
We have not had a robust strategy to call our members forward to participate, collaborate, and co-construct a movement in psychology ever before. Strategizing how we can mobilize our members to respond to our "calls to collaborate" with APA, with each other, and with their own community stakeholders will be a key to both our success in growing a population health movement and builiding cohesion and belonging within the Association.
